01 / BRIEF

The brief

A global technology product needed consistent language quality across a continuing flow of content. Individual sentences could be correct while terminology, tone or local usage varied. The task combined hands-on editing with decisions that other contributors could apply.

02 / WORK

What I edited

I led Australian English language quality through a language-services provider. My work combined editorial assessment, terminology decisions, contributor feedback and discussions with stakeholders.

  • Commercial and product language. Assessed clarity, tone, meaning and usefulness in the context of the customer experience.
  • Australian English localisation. Made language locally natural while preserving the source meaning and brand position.
  • Editorial arbitration. Resolved competing language choices through a reasoned view of audience, terminology and context.
  • Contributor guidance. Explained recurring issues and corrective decisions so feedback can inform subsequent work.
03 / JUDGEMENT

The editorial decisions

A shorter edit is not always a better edit. I weighed wording against the customer’s task, source meaning and product context. That meant preserving a precise term where necessary, expanding an explanation when needed and documenting decisions so the next reviewer could apply the same standard.
