BEFORE THE FIRST DRAFT

When the message needs to land

You know the subject. The challenge is making its value clear to someone with less context, less time or a different set of priorities.

An unclear argument can leave a good idea overlooked, a recommendation questioned or a strong proposal difficult to assess. More detail rarely fixes a message whose central point is still unresolved.

What does your audience need to understand, believe or decide? That is where the work begins.

Recognise the challenge?

  • Your ideas need a clear point of view

The expertise is there. Finding the argument and the time to write is holding you back.

  • Readers are getting lost in the detail

The facts are sound. The recommendation, relevance or next step is harder to find.

  • Too many contributors, too many voices

Your draft has grown through review rounds and needs one coherent structure and voice.

  • Your team needs senior support

You need experienced judgement and delivery capacity for a demanding project or a busy period.

WORKING WITH ME

From your expertise
to a finished piece

A clear process, with you in control of the voice, the facts and the final approval. Confidentiality and access arrangements are agreed before sensitive material is shared.

  1. Agree the brief

Share the audience, purpose, material and deadline. You receive a proposed scope and fee, with deliverables, review rounds and responsibilities agreed before work starts.

  2. Develop and review

You receive a draft or edited document, with the reasoning behind key changes and questions for your specialists. Feedback is brought together against the agreed brief.

  3. Approve the final piece

The writing is refined through the agreed review rounds. You confirm the facts, voice and final version before it is published, shared or submitted.

ABOUT KYZAKIS

Senior judgement, directly engaged

I’m Kyle Smith, the founder of Kyzakis. For more than a decade, I’ve worked between complex subject matter and the people who need to understand it.

My background spans defence bids, public information, banking and global technology content. That breadth helps me get to grips with unfamiliar material and ask the questions a reader will need answered.

You work with the person shaping the message, so your context and feedback carry through from the first conversation to the final edit.

WORKING TOGETHER

Before you begin

How will you make the writing sound like me?

I use conversations, your previous writing and feedback to understand both your point of view and how you express it. That includes the language you use, the detail you value and the claims you would stand behind. You do not need a finished brief; notes or a conversation can be enough to start.

Does my draft need editing or a rewrite?

A copy edit improves wording, tone and consistency. A structural edit addresses the argument, order and gaps. A rewrite may be more useful when the draft needs a different approach. Share a representative excerpt and the intended audience, and I can recommend the level of support that fits.

How much does it cost, and how long will it take?

Scope, complexity, source material and review requirements determine the fee and timing. Share your deadline and what you have so far. I’ll confirm availability and propose the deliverables, fee and review rounds before work starts. If the scope changes, I’ll discuss the effect on cost and timing with you.

Can you support our in-house team?

Yes. Bring me in for a single assignment or ongoing fractional communications support. I work alongside your communications team and subject-matter experts, helping shape ideas, develop drafts and bring contributions together. Your team retains its review and approval responsibilities.

How are confidentiality and AI use handled?

Confidentiality, access, sharing channels and any NDA requirements are agreed before sensitive material is shared. Any use of AI must meet your organisation’s information-handling requirements. Please keep initial enquiries free of confidential details; appropriate sharing arrangements can follow.
